The aim of this group is to provide a network of active mountain users in the Western Cape of South Africa that can be early eyes on the scene of incidents and provide info back to the Rescuers.
HOW IT WILL WORK:
- In the case of an incident requiring further info, a Rescue Manager (RM) will post a message on the channel, inquiring if anyone is within close proximity.
- Anyone who can meet the request will need to contact the RM for further info.
- The RM will instruct you on how to proceed.
- You will be in constant contact with the RM as you make your way to the scene and feed back information.
- After which you can either continue on your activity or stay to assist the rescue team. This will be at the discretion of the RM or on scene Team Leader.
ONLY ASSIST IF:
- You are in the area and can get to the incident within the requested time.
- You are requested to by the RM.
- You are comfortable and not putting yourself or anyone else at risk.
PLEASE DO NOT:
- Share any info or media from this group or the incident externally.
- Respond to a scene if not personally requested by the Rescue Manager.
- Drive from home to assist.
This is 100% voluntary and there is no insurance cover provided. We advise that you check with your insurance and/or medical aid that there would be no issue should you sustain an injury while responding.
