Trail Search & Rescue

Trail Search & Rescue was started in 2021 as a response to the increased number of people on Table Mountain and additional resources required. The gap we fill in Wilderness Search & Rescue (WSAR) is our fitness/strength, ability to get to/assist a Patient rapidly and provide early, accurate information to the Rescue Team Leader, and our intimate knowledge of the mountain.

We are a voluntary organisation, able to contribute support as part of WSAR because we run recreationally. Since we are not a Professional team that trains and works in this field on a full-time basis it is only because we spend lots of time trail running on the mountains recreationally, that we have the fundamentals/fitness levels/knowledge of the mountain trails.

Trail S&R is a team activity. Dedication and willingness to work within the team to the best of one’s ability are the most valuable prerequisites, along with a level of fitness/health and training.
